History

In 1983, Dr Majeed, a medical doctor and entrepreneur, decided to provide education for the unprivileged in the community, particularly paramedical education. To start an educational institution of this sort was a fragmented idea and an ambitious initiative that would require a lot of funding to get started. Such a mission was out of reach for an individual doctor. In those days, pharmacy colleges were run only by corporate giants like Lisie hospital in Ernakulam, Caritas hospital in Kottayam, and NSS in Trichur. However, Dr Majeed consulted with Dr Madhavan Kutty, an expert in medical education. He served as a syndicate member of Kerala University and as principal of a number of state-sponsored medical colleges, including Trivandrum Medical College. Dr Majeed saw his Guru in Dr K Madhavan Kutty when he was the principal of Alleppey Medical College. He supported Dr Majeed to establish a pharmacy college in the remote village called Vavvakavu in Kollam District, Kerala. In one of their discussions, Dr Majeed asked him: "For an individual like me with inadequate wealth, will it be possible to set up a pharmacy college?". The reply was : “ Yes Majeed, you can do it !. When you feel a burning desire for a noble cause, there is no word impossible”. Afterwards, Dr Madhavan Kutty became the business Guru to Dr Majeed and was instrumental in all his business activities while serving as his business Guru.
